Press Conference Results: Unique Training Scheme in Ukraine – the ProCredit Young Bankers Programme

On 24May 2012 at 09:30, the LigaBusinessInform news agency press centre (23 T. Shamrylo St., Kyiv) hosted a press conference by the management of ProCredit Bank in Ukraine titled: Unique Training Scheme in Ukraine – the ProCredit Young Bankers Programme. The representatives of ProCredit Bank attending the press conference:

Dr Philipp Pott, Chairman of the Board, Viktor Ponomarenko, Vice Chairman of the Board, Yaroslava Vilko, Head of Human Resources. During the conference, a new training programme for young professionals was introduced, followed by a detailed explanation of why the bank places so much importance – investing money and the time of its senior staff – in the Young Bankers Programme.

"We strongly believe that banking is not a technical job. Many people have the impression that in order to work at the bank, it is enough to be able to use special programs that can calculate all risks automatically, that can even approve a loan in half an hour. We believe that the banking business is a complex mechanism. You need to carefully train professionals, enabling them to make responsible and informed decisions in the interests of the bank and our customers. This programme plays a central role in the future development of our bank in Ukraine and elsewhere in the ProCredit group"- said Dr Pott.

The Bank offers people with experience (not just in the banking sector) and higher education, the opportunity to acquire practical skills and to try working in different areas of the bank’s operations. During the six months of training, programme participants have the opportunity to learn the specifics of working with banking services, especially with small and medium-size businesses, as well as become acquainted with the principles and corporate values of ProCredit Bank.

The training format includes lectures, discussions, essay writing, research, presentations, group work and practical training in branches. The bank will offer jobs to graduates who successfully complete the programme.

The basic requirements for prospective Young Bankers are: education - completed higher education (holders of bachelor''s degrees are eligible if they do not intend to continue education in the near future), an upper-intermediate level of English, and willingness to work in anywhere in Ukraine.

To participate, firstly please send us your resumé; the process then involves a phone interview, a test in maths, logic, English language and a personal interview. All details can be found on ProCredit Bank’s official website: www.procreditbank.com.ua.

The bank will reimburse the participants’ transportation costs. Training takes place in Kiev in a new training center on Lvivska St. "We try to make the participants feel free, open to receive new information and exchange experiences. We expect lively discussions, questions and differing opinions. We want the participants to defend their point of view, provide arguments and ask our opinion – this is how truth is found"- said Yaroslav Vilko.

"Through the Young Bankers Programme, we want to reach a new level. In addition to basic technical and financial knowledge, we expect our future colleagues to be aware of and understand our corporate culture: why we specifically work with small and medium-size businesses and why is it important for the country. We need people who are not just willing to work in a bank, but who also understand what they are doing there. They consciously choose this bank", - said Victor Ponomarenko.
