ProCredit Bank joins the #FraudGoodbye Payment Security Campaign led by the National Bank of Ukraine, Cyber Police, and the State Service for Special Communications

On 13 May 2026, the National Bank of Ukraine, together with the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, launched a new wave of the nationwide payment security awareness campaign #FraudGoodbye.

The campaign aims to increase public awareness and remind citizens of the basic safety rules when making cashless payments, especially online.

In 2025, there was a decrease in the number of illegal activities and fraudulent transactions involving payment cards that resulted in losses. Compared to 2024, this indicator fell by 13.3 thousand transactions (or 5%), to 256 thousand transactions. At the same time, the total losses increased: In 2025, they grew by almost a quarter (24%) to UAH 1.4 billion.

This indicates that despite the reduction in the number of cases, the scale of losses from fraud is increasing. Payment fraud remains a relevant issue and underscores the need for ongoing systematic public awareness efforts.

The most common method of payment card fraud in Ukraine, as globally, continues to be social engineering. This refers to situations where customers themselves disclose personal data, payment card details, and login credentials for mobile and online banking, as well as verification codes and passwords used for transactions or access to payment applications.

Therefore, improving citizens’ knowledge and skills for the safe use of payment cards and online banking will enable them to use cashless payments more cautiously and avoid fraudulent schemes and traps in the digital space.

“Fraudsters increasingly target not systems, but human behaviour, as social engineering remains the most widespread method of fraud. Over the past year, 90% of the total amount of fraud-related losses resulted from such schemes, according to data provided by payment service providers. This is why we continue our public awareness efforts and are launching a new wave of the #FraudGoodbye campaign to raise awareness and help citizens protect their funds,” commented Oleksii Shaban, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.

“The main weapons of online fraudsters are, above all, the carelessness, emotions, and lack of knowledge of their potential victims about safe behaviour in the digital environment. Therefore, the task of the Cyber Police Department is not only to detect criminals but also to prevent offences. Thanks to the joint initiative of the National Bank, the Cyber Police, and the State Service for Special Communications, a new phase of the #FraudGoodbye campaign is being launched to inform Ukrainians about ways to protect themselves from financial traps online. With the rapid development of internet technologies, even a few simple actions can protect individuals and their loved ones from significant financial losses,” said Yurii Vykhodets, Head of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

“Today, the internet, digital services, and online tools are an integral part of our lives, making them more convenient and saving time. At the same time, this is a space full of risks. Knowledge of safe online behaviour and its daily application provide effective protection. At the State Service for Special Communications, we always emphasise that cyber hygiene is not only about protecting individuals; it is also a contribution to national security. We once again join the nationwide #FraudGoodbye campaign, which will help many Ukrainians better understand how to avoid online risks and fraud, protect their data, avoid financial losses, and prevent becoming an entry point for cybercriminals into state systems,” said Oleksandr Potii, Head of the State Service for Special Communications.

“Risks are reduced not only by technology, but above all by consistent customer behaviour. Paying attention to suspicious messages, verifying any changes in payment details via alternative channels, using unique passwords, and refusing to share access codes with third parties are simple actions that are most effective in preventing fraud. At the same time, we believe that systematic awareness initiatives such as the nationwide #FraudGoodbye campaign are critically important for fostering a culture of financial security in society. As a responsible bank, we will continue to support this initiative and contribute to raising customer awareness, as it is the combination of digital hygiene and timely communication with the bank that creates truly reliable protection,” commented Sergey Gubatenko, Head of Information Security at ProCredit Bank.

During the campaign, the National Bank, together with around 80 partners, will focus on explaining to consumers the key elements of payment security, including:

  • how to avoid fraud disguised as government services
  • how to avoid investment fraud
  • how to verify websites and chatbots where users enter payment details
  • how to shop safely online
  • how to protect your financial phone number
  • how to avoid the most common fraud schemes
  • how not to become an unwitting accomplice to crimes or fall into fraud traps when job hunting

The campaign will run until the end of the year across all regions of Ukraine. Within its framework, the National Bank and its partners will inform citizens on how to protect themselves from payment fraud. Planned activities include:

  • placement of posters on billboards, citylights, public transport, and transport stops
  • broadcasting video content on screens in administrative service centres, shopping malls, gas stations, retail outlets, bank branches, mobile operator stores, the metro, railway stations, Intercity trains, and employment centres
  • distribution of posters and brochures in employment centres, free legal aid centres, service centres of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and insurance company offices
  • publication of content on social media, in media outlets, Telegram channels, and partner websites
  • participation in radio programmes and television segments
  • publication of a special newspaper for older audiences on payment security and its distribution through Pension Fund service centres
  • organisation of competitions, webinars, and other educational activities for pupils, students, and educators
  • broadcasting social video and audio content on television and radio

All useful information will also be available on the dedicated #FraudGoodbye campaign webpage.
